2007-2008 Activities



We have lots of fun and educational activities planned for this year, and lots of local opportunities to take advantage of!  See the Yahoogroup for details of time and place, and for contact information to register or RSVP!

October activities : 

  • October 4 - “The Legend of Chocolate” at the ArtsCenter

  • October 4  – Honey Bee Basics Workshop 7 – 9 pm.  Learn about the fascinating world of honeybees including how important they are to our way of life as well as how to keep bees as a hobby.  This free workshop is sponsored by the Orange County Beekeepers Association and will be held at the County Extension Office – 306 Revere Road in Hillsborough.  To register, contact Randall Austin at orangebeeclass@yahoo.com or 919-644-7842. 

  • Morehead Planetarium monthly classes begin!  See the yahoogroup for details.

  • October 6 is Homeschool Day at Tryon Palace.  The theme this year is Revolutionary War Camp Life.  Pre-registration by September 20 is required.
  • October Homeschool Conversations  Topic:  "What's Out There? Activities and Programs Available in the Greater Chapel Hill area."   We would like to extend a special invitation to new Chapel Hill Homeschool members to join us at this meeting.   This is a wonderful opportunity to meet other homeschooling families and gather information about opportunities. Refreshments and childcare will be provided.
  • October 12 (Fri) – 21 (Sun) – North Carolina State Fair in Raleigh  http://www.ncstatefair.org/2007a/
  • October 13 – 21 Barnes and Noble Educator Appreciation Week.  Receive 25% off nearly everything (10% off DVDs and CDs) when you bring proof of your educator status.

  • NC Claws Animal Presentation

  • October 30 (Tues) – “Dovie Thomason: Native American Storyteller” at the ArtsCenter 

November activities:

  • New Art and Mythology classes in Hillsborough - see the yahoogroup for details!

  • November 16 (Fri) – Music by Red Grammer ( www.redgrammer.com ) at the ArtsCenter

  • Friday Enrichment Potluck Celebration & Presentation!  All CHH members are invited to this community event, regardless of whether or not your children participated in this session of Friday Enrichment.   More details to come -- see the yahoogroup for time and place!

  • NC Museum of Art Landscapes Exhibit This field trip is geared towards the students taking the monthly Ackland classes.  Look for more details in November.

December activities:

  • Join us for our annual craft day and cookie exchange!
  • December 4 (Tues) – Museum of Natural Science in Raleigh holds their homeschool day.  More details to come!  www.naturalsciences.org 
  • December 6  – From Temple to Theater by the Ragamala Music & Dance Theater (www.ragamala.net) at the ArtsCenter
